SonicWALL network protection devices connect between your company's Internet connection and its internal network. They serve as firewalls to block malicious traffic from entering your systems. SonicWALL's proprietary operating system, SonicOS, drives these devices. It allows you to save a copy of its settings to a file on a computer. That way, if something happens to your SonicWALL firewall or if you need to upgrade it, you can easily revert to your original settings.
1.
Enter '192.168.168.168' in the address line of a Web browser on a computer on a network protected by your SonicWALL firewall. Press 'Enter' to navigate to the page. If you customized your SonicWALL's administration address, enter it instead.
2.
Enter your username and password in the appropriate fields to log in. The default username is 'admin' and the default password is 'password,' although you might have changed them. Once you've successfully logged in, your screen shows the 'System > Status' page.
3.
Click 'Settings' in the menu on the left pane, under the System heading.
4.
Click the 'Create Backup Settings' button, then click 'Create Backup.' Your firewall saves a backup of its settings to its internal storage.
5.
Click the 'Export Settings...' button to save a copy of your settings. Use the file selector box to choose where you want the file saved on your computer. Once you save it, it can take up to a minute to be transferred to your computer. You can now close your SonicWALL's administration page.
